On May 30, 2024, NAFSA: Association of International Educators, the world’s oldest and largest association of higher education international educators, with 11,000 members worldwide, announced a new monetary prize for individuals who advance the meaning, practices and outcomes of higher education internationalization. The Prize is named after John K. Hudzik, Professor of Criminal Justice and University Vice President Emeritus at Michigan State University. He was formerly MSU Dean and Vice President for International Programs from 1995 to 2010.
Dr. Hudzik said “Global society benefits from students and faculty having international perspective and experience incorporated into all facets of higher education missions (teaching, research, and public service). We are pleased to acknowledge and support those who are shaping higher education internationalization and global understanding.”
In naming the Prize, NAFSA recognized Hudzik’s decades-long globally-recognized scholarship and administrative leadership as “a distinguished champion and authority on the conceptualization, planning and implementation of internationalization.” The Hudzik Prize, to be awarded annually on advice of an international selection committee, is open to nominees from throughout the world.
